With the news just being released that either Kitesurfing or Windsurfing is going to be included as a boardsport class in the Rio 2016 Olympics depending on site suitability, it looks pretty certain that Kitesurf Course Racing will be chosen due to the ideal location and big sandy beaches. Of course the other plus point is Kites featuring in the offical banner of the Rio Olympics. With the new box rule also recently being announced and production only boards from 2012, I think we will see a big increase at race events both in the UK and around the World next year.

Winter is now properly here in Cornwall, with it getting dark early and the temperature dropping. Gales and huge swells are consistantly pounding the shore pushing my focus back to Wave riding and pursuing my goal of riding the biggest waves possible with a kite.
So far I have riddden what has to be my biggest waves in the Northern Hemisphere at Gwithian a few weeks ago at roughly 4-5 times overhead and winter has only just begun. Look out for the pics in the next issue of Kiteworld magazine!
Working alongside Supersaturated TV from Plymouth we are making a UK Wave riding video this winter, which entails riding the best spots all over the country.

In between the waves I am back in training, in the gym, swimming and doing Yoga, (thanks to Cornwall Sports Partnership for allowing me free access to Penwith Lesuire centres) preparing for next seasons racing which will soon be upon us in March.

I am also looking for Sponsors to help me compete in The ISAF Course Racing Worlds in Germany, The Course Race Europeans, The Kite Tour Europe and The PKRA World Tour of which I plan to do several race and wave events.
If you are interested and want to find out how sponsorship will benefit you? Please contact me by email lee@leepasty.co.uk
