This weekend saw the Edge Race Cup, hosted by 3 time world champ, Steph Bridge. A light forecast didnt deter 24 entrants from across the country. Saturday started with light winds so SUP racing was the go. After casually paddling through the early rounds I had to put some effort in in the final with the tide starting to rip through abd managed to take the win from North rep Callum. After lunch the wind picked up slighty, just enough for 2 races at around 8knts but I couldn't keep up with the lightweigts. Sunday wasn't muc different with the light Northerly breeze being cancelled out by the sea breeze which eventually won over and racing started with around 8 knts of breeze again. Struggling to keep pace upwind, even with nailing the starts I was off the pace. 3 races were run and I managed 4th overall with my 85kgs against the next lightest of 72. For the long distance races the wind slightly filled in and without the need to go upwind, my training paid off and I comfortably took the win. Thanks to Steph and the Edge team for organising a fun weekend. Results- Course race 1st Denzil Williams 2nd Ollie Bridge 3rd Callum Edge 4th me
