Lee 'Pasty' Harvey - Professional Kitesurfer from Cornwall

New video up in the video section of a recent test of the new Eclipse Kima and Resin8 Tokoro surfboard. Filmed by my bro on his first shoot ever the footage is a bit wonky but not too bad for a mediocre day in west cornwall! more to come and ive now got some tachyon waterproof cameras for onboard stuff!!!

more sharks and other wildlife around at sea today and the first sunfish of the year came flapping by for a look. what a life these guys have.

in a bit of a dilemma with germany for the KPWT. to go or not to go? forecast is pretty awfull and its expensive. if i dont go to sylt then i will prob be able to afford to go Brasil, but if go prob not and only portugal, morocco twice + sylt which will work with 2 discards this year for overall but it will be better conditions and nicer weather in Cumbuco so what do i do?

Sponsors needed, can you help?

well theres been a lot going on here lately.

the crabs have strated moving, the waters warming up and the basking sharks have turned up on mass! saw the biggest one ive ever seen yesterday, was over 20ft long and today had a huge one jump out of the water and roll over right next to us. was pretty good and wish i could of caught it on film as would of made front page press!!! thanks to surftwisted.com for these pics.

on the wave front been a bit flat but some good surf yesterday and occaisionly a bit of wind for a bit of freestyling but been almost a couple of weeks since wave kited. got a little vid almost finished which shows some new stuff.

Signed onto Resin8 surfboards and could be some other news in next few days but at the moment im getting ready for the KPWT in Sylt Germany. dusting off the race board and tweaking everything hoping its going to be windy. so stay tuned for big news to come.

keep it real!!!

Top of Cornwall! 05/11/2009

This saturday myself and my girlfriend, Tara hiked up Brown Willy, the highest point in Cornwall. The sun was just about shining and the wind was blowing so we flew a 2.5m kite on top of our world. with the views it was an amazing experience and with a the 10 tors walk going on at the same time, i expect some people saw us and wondered waht the hell was going on up there? despite this we didnt see another person and camping in the van at the end of a dirt track the only noises we heard were that of the 'Beast of Bodmin' mooching around in the full moon.

On the sunday Tara took part in the triple challenge at Lusty Glaze, zip wiring, abseiling and running up the snakes and ladders, in aid of The Cornwall Hospice Trust.

A great end to a nice sunny week whci saw 3 days of kiting and some nice waves.

In the process of writing my first technique article so watch this space.

HAPPY FLYING

School Talk 03/23/2009

Kernow Kitesurf Club in School

On the Thursday before half term, as part of Mounts Bay Schools, learning week KKC chairman, Lee ’Pasty’ Harvey gave a talk on kites and Kitesurfing to 170 year 7 pupils. With gasps of excitement as the kite inflated, all the youngsters were really keen on trying the sport and were interested in both Kitesurfing and Powerkites.

Lee gave a brief history of kites and the sport of Kitesurfing before showing the different types of kites, boards and harnesses you can use.

With a lot of questions being asked as well as most of them wanting to have a go (teachers as well), lee in his new job role for Penwith Schools Sports Partnership as school/club links co-ordinator, is now formulating a plan to deliver power kiting within all Cornish schools as part of an after school club, with a view to the youngsters moving onto Kitesurfing through their local kite school.

After featuring in most issues of Kitesurf magazine for around a year, March 2009 sees me feature for the first time in both magazines at once and the same mag as Mick Fanning!

After an epic winter of waves here in Cornwall, its good to see the UK being regognised as having top quality breaks alongside far away dream destinations. Working with top surf photographers, you can be sure to see me in many more mags and websites, such as www.surftwisted.com where they are realising the potential of kites in waves and spreading the word to surfers across the world.

Been some epic days this past week and they got some cracking shots so as well as this months, make sure you buy next monts issues!

Happy Riding

Lee
ps. not showing you all the article and pics, you'll have to buy the mags, loads of good stuff in both so its worth it!!

Surf & Exploring 02/26/2009

Well there has not been any wind now for about 3 weeks, but the surf has been pumping with loads of epic days and big barrels at leven and recently a beauty at g land! even got the frontside 3's sussed now and nailing them most of the time, can't wait till next week and crack them on the kite ;)

also been checking out some spots in north cornwall (found an epic looking downwinder which will incorporate a couple of slabs with the right swell and wind?)and while we were up there did a treasure trail at Tintagel, once the home of Merlin and King Arthur! if you ever want to go to a new place and am not sure about it or know nothing of the area get a treasure trail they are great fun and you learn  loads! www.treasuretrails.co.uk

with the swell now small for a few days its given me time to concentrate on my new job as 'Community sports club/schools links co-ordinator' whcih i am doing part time along with fishing (which weve had a few good catches lately) and of course competing on the KPWT when they start.

Got plenty of stuff coming out in the mags and its looking pumping from next weds so for sure there will be more news to come! hope you like the pics!
enjoy and happy hunting

Well the weather has all changed and it's been snowing properly here for the first time in quite a few years.

Checked lev this morning on way to sea to shoot the nets and was surprised to see 4ft pumping. had some massive blizzards at sea and when i got back to lev it was all white on the rocks. a bit smaller but warmer in the sea at 10 degrees and with a full load of West rubber i was nice and warm staying out of the snow and in the baz!

check the pic of team mate will b covered in white stuff and loving it!

quite why the spongers don't wear any boots is beyond me though and with how good hats and gloves are now days why would you not wear them in a blizzard?

bring on the tropical south westers again, i though we were meant to be experiencing global warming!

had a lot of fun riding the booge(Tara's idea) in the park this evening with my girlfriend Tara nailing a 360 spin. ooh yeah! if its snowing near you forget the sledge, its all about the slick bottom , cheaper the better!

have fnu

Finally i have pretty much finished my website. with the wind and swell now dropping off and it forecasted for 1 degree over the weekend! i am writing up and article to go with all the awesome pics we have from the last 3 weeks. as soon as its done it will be in the news section so keep an eye out!

Over the next few months i will be adding a technique section covering all aspects of riding waves with a kite and a surfboard. planned start is Gybing technique, following on right through to 360s off the lip. if you have something specific you want to see send me a mail and ill try and get my camera men to get the shots to go with the words, to explain all!

been testing boards for kitesurf magazine lately so be sure to pick up the next few issues for all my findings and check back here regulary for all news from my world.

hope you like it?

happy safe riding

lee
